1967 Chevrolet Nova

View Description

The Nova story started with very humble begins for the 1962 model year. In the beginning all Novas were called the Chevy II. The Nova name was designated as the top trim package in the early years. A tried-and-true compact car build to compete with the Ford Falcon and designed to be more contemporary than the rear engine Chevy Corvair that's concept proved to be a little too wild for the average American car buyer at the time. Sporting a more traditional set up the Nova was a car Chevy promoted a reliable and efficient compact car that was only available with a 4- or 6-cylinder engine the first 2 model years, but by 1965 a V8 could be ordered scooting Chevys little grocery getter down the road quit quickly. For the first 2 generations of the Chevy II the car was offered in coupe, sedan, station wagon and convertible body styles. As the Chevy II progressed its image changed along the way and the car could be ordered with Chevy's prestigious Super Sport Package making 327 and 396 engines available and specialty Novas were even available from places like Yenko Chevrolet, NicKey Chevrolet and the internal GM C. O. P....

1967 Chevrolet Nova

View Description

The Nova made its debut in 1962 and was introduced to give the public a compact and affordable car and after V8s became available as dealer installed options they really made a mark on people who appreciated spicy performance in a small light-weight car. According to Veteran Mechanics Illustrated 'With a little hopping up and a manual transmission and low price these should sell like cold beer on a hot Fourth of July'.

This second-generation beauty is finished off nicely with two-tone silver and gray metallic paint and a very comfortable cloth interior with classic bench seat, leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, original AM radio and a full assortment of Comp-Pro gauges.

This car is not just for show and one look under that hood reveals a small block 355 Cubic Inch V8 that is mated to a Turbo 400 transmission running back to an 8. 8 rear with 3:55 gears. This...

1967 Chevrolet Nova

View Description

The parts list on this Chevy II is anything but short, so let-s jump right into the meat of it all. Powering this beauty is a 350 cubic in Tune-Port Injection V8 that has been warmed over with a bumpin- camshaft and some tubular exhaust manifolds. Backing that up is a 4-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit built to lay down the power. Power is sent to a pair of meaty tires through a GM 10-bolt. A Mustang II style front end gives the modern feel of a car with rack and pinion steering, coil over front suspension, and tubular reinforcements making for a very stable front end.

The two-tone paint was exquisitely laid down, and the contrasting colors are separated by a slick red pinstripe. The top hue was even plucked from GMs own color wheel on the Chevrolet SSR pickup truck! Step inside and again be greeted...
