This is the real deal GTO, not a clone. Originally an option package for the Pontiac Tempest in 1964 and 1965, the GTO became its own model from 1966-1971. The Pontiac GTO was named Motor Trend's car of the year in 1968, and the 1969 carried over the attributes that helped it win the award in 1968. Although this one was originally 'Expresso Brown' (color code 61) with a gold interior (color code 252), this GTO was redone during its restoration to its current color scheme of Matador Red over a black vinyl interior. This car does come with the PHS documentation as well.

Pop the hood, and you'll find its 400 CID V8, topped by a 4BBL carb, and plenty of room to work on the big block. A set of long tube headers extract the exhaust gases into the Flowmaster-equipped dual exhaust, giving this Goat its vintage rumble. Depress the clutch, twist the key, slip the Hurst shifter-equipped 4-speed manual into first, and you'll be tempted to immediately 'draw some elevens' down the street. The Second-generation Pontiac Firebird Trams Am features some of the most beloved and iconic models produced including the rare 1970 1/2 Ram Air III, the black & gold 1977 Smokey & the Bandit Special Edition and the 1979 10th Anniversary Edition. During the last two years of its run, Pontiac offered a special engine and appearance package known as the -Turbo Trans Am-. Due to the increasing emissions restrictions, Pontiac dropped all its large displacement engines, including the venerable 400cid V8 following the 1979 model year. Along with a conventional 305 cid small-block V8, Pontiac offered the first forced induction production engine, a turbo charged 301 V8 in 1980-81. The 4. 9L Turbo was unique in that it had a stronger block with thicker cylinder walls and a lower compression ratio given the increased pressure created by the turbo system. Also included were newly developed internals including forged pistons, high pressure oil pump, a roller fillet crankshaft with 2 counterbalances, fully baffled oil pan and turbo specific exhaust manifolds. This Firebird definitely breaks the mold of what is typically seen. Normally, one would expect to find a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8. On this example, however, the seller opted to have a built 350 small block Chevy dropped in its place. Having been slightly warmed over, including pumping up displacement to a healthy 355 cubic inches, this baby is a screamer! Making this --Bird even more fun is the 4-speed manual transmission, giving total control of the acceleration of this beast to the driver.

Rounding out the performance is plenty of style. Plenty of chrome is sprinkled throughout the engine bay, and the air cleaner has a very impressive flame pattern air-brushed to match the exquisitely laid medium blue paint. Under the hood of this sweet ride is a massive 400 CID V8. This engine provides loads of torque and makes these cars very fun to drive. When started up, this beast has a nice and low pitch to it that does a good job of making its presence known without being too loud. When driving, the engine runs smoothly and cruises nicely. When it comes time to let the radial tires eat up the concrete, this baby sure moves in a hurry with plenty of torque and force. Sending all of that power rearward is a three speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly through the gears to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable ride. Overall the powertrain in this car is very nice and runs well.

Moving outward, the exterior is finished in an eye-catching Firethorn red. The paint has just been detailed and is in a very good driver condition. The GTO has a true 242 Vin as well so no need to worry about it being those Lemans/tempest clones. Commonly referred to as a 'Goat' is one of what I believe to be top 10 greatest classic muscles built during its era. They featured nice body lines, big motors, and nice pointed off nose to cut through the competition.

This GTO features a 400 CID V8 that has been bored. 030 over and provides plenty of power to send you through the power band. The engine came from a '69 GTO so none the less it's still all GTO under the hood. It also has just under 9,000 miles on it since the rebuild. Accompanied by a 4-speed manual transmission, 068 Cam, and 3. 43 gears you can truly have some fun with this Pontiac.
