In 2002, Pontiac concluded production of its Legendary Firebird with a Limited Collectors Edition TRANS AM. In total, only 2,389 were produced; of which only 839 T-Top manual vehicles were ever produced. Powered by the legendary 5. 7 Liter LS1 power plant, this is no doubt the undisputed heavyweight, and most desirable configuration of Pontiac's Firebird. According to its owner, it has always been kept in a climate controlled garage and only used on clear sunny days. The paint is in excellent condition with absolutely no scratches, dents or dings (the car was recently ceramic coated with OptiCoat Pro). The body of the vehicle is 100% factory original with no paintwork, all original panels and no oxidation or rust, truly exceptional. Having been driven, on average a mere 330 miles per year, this may be one of the nicest 2002 TRANS AM-s in the country. Every modification done to this vehicle has been well thought out, with attention to maintaining everyday driveability, combined with a conscious decision not to do anything that cannot be bolted back on, or off, maintaining its factory integrity. 1989 was the biggest year for Pontiac with respect to press coverage, promotions, and performance. It was not well known at the time, but in 1989, Pontiac produced the quickest and fastest American production car. The 'Excitement Division' was also asked to provide a car to pace the 73rd running of the Indianapolis 500; sadly, it would be the final time a Pontiac would ever receive that honor. Through a unique partnership between Pontiac and an engineering firm called Prototype Automotive Services (PAS), the Trans Am GTA was equipped with a more powerful version of the turbocharged Buick 3. 8L V6, originally developed for the Buick Regal Grand National, and the Turbo Trans Am (TTA) became the vehicle Pontiac supplied to pace the Indianapolis 500.
