There's no question the Mustang is one of Ford's biggest successes. Introduced in 1964, Mustangs have sold in grand numbers ever since. They've kept the same basic layout throughout 50 years: front engine, rear wheel drive, two door, and seating for four. It's a car that looks sporty, but can be ordered with a wide variety of power plants. This particular coupe has the 200 CID Inline 6 cylinder which would've been the base engine at the time. Many collectors nowadays prefer these engines for their reliability and simplicity. Popping the hood of this Mustang is rather refreshing compared to a modern vehicle. The Star Chief was a full size Pontiac model sold between 1954 - 1966. Over its run, there were several body styles available; coupe convertible, wagon, sedan, etc. This particular '65 model is a very unique 4 door pillar less hard top. With all 4 windows rolled down, the car has a sleek coupe-like look with plenty of airflow. This particular example is finished in a beautiful coat of fontaine blue. Unique to this Star Chief is some hand applied pin stripping. This gives the car a custom look with a tasteful nod to the old Pontiac logo. This F100 was sold new in California and spent most of its life in Colorado. This provided a nice rust free foundation for restoration. The body was completely stripped to bare metal and repainted the original Prairie Yellow. The truck's rear bumper and wheels have been powder coated for durability. All badges and the grill have been either replaced or re-plated. The engine was rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago using hardened valve seats so the truck can be run on modern unleaded fuel.
