BACKGROUND: The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size car manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet from 1964 to 1983 and since 1997. The Malibu began as a trim-level of the Chevrolet Chevelle, becoming its own model line in 1978. Originally a rear-wheel-drive intermediate, GM revived the Malibu nameplate as a front-wheel-drive car in 1997. Named after coastal community of Malibu, California, the Malibu was marketed primarily in North America, with the eighth generation introduced globally. The first Malibu was a top-line subseries of the mid-sized Chevrolet Chevelle from 1964 to 1972. The Malibu SS was replaced in 1966 by a new Chevelle SS-396 series that included a big-block 396 cu in (6. 5 L) V8 engine, heavy duty suspension and other performance equipment.

We are very thrilled to present to you this beautiful red 1939 Ford Coupe, which comes with a hard and soft-top. It is located on the Showroom floor of Gateway Classic Cars in Saint Louis.

BACKGROUND: Ford modernized their Coupe in 1939 with a low pointed grille that sported heavier vertical slats. The headlights were moved farther apart than the 1939 to almost in front of the wheels. The side grilles and louvers were removed in favor of chrome strips on Deluxe models. The 'alligator' hood opened deep from the top of the grille back, eliminating the side panels found on previous models.

Some of the unique modern upgrades to this particular 1939 Ford Coupe includes all Corvette running gear, LT-1 motor, 700R4 Transmission, four-wheel disc (power-assisted brakes) brakes, power steering, electric windows, electric doors, electric trunk, independent rear-wheel suspension, all leather interior, compact disc player, and a 400-watt stereo. Recently it has had a four-wheel alignment performed, front lower ball joint replaced, and a new fuel pump installed.

Red over red with a Power white soft top. Power comes from a rebuilt 327 small block fitted with a Corvette intake manifold and carburetor from a '68. Power is sent through a M-21 4 speed manual transmission controlled via white ball shifter. What could be better than a Red 4 speed convertible?

During the frame off restoration the car was fitted with Power front disc brakes while drums are still retained out back. The Impala is also equipped with Power steering, Power top, Dual mirrors, Dual antennas, Fender skirts, Center console, Convertible boot cover and Dual exhaust. In 2013 the car was freshened up with a new interior and paint. It also has a few aftermarket touches such as Chrome half moon headlight covers, AM/FM radio still using the original opening, Auxiliary oil pressure gauge and SS emblems. A few details...

In '57, the Chevy lineup ranged from 150s to Bel Airs with the hard top being arguably the most attractive body available. The hard tops had no B post which gave a seamless look, especially with all the windows rolled down. This particular example certainly looks sharp in red and white paint which has been beautifully laid on a laser straight body. The trim is all there and looks beautiful from stem to stern. The bumpers are beautifully chromed and make for a great place to fix your hair in their mirror finish. The rain guards snap into place wonderfully, possibly even smoother than when the car was new. Some nice period upgrades on this one are: fender skirts, dual antennas on the rear fenders, and of course the unmistakable continental kit. This one retains the original style hub caps and wide white wall tires. Under the hood the factory appearance has been kept as well. This car sports a 283 CID V8 which has the very desirable dual carb set up.
