The FRC body style was kind of a rare bird and were predominately used for SCCA racing. The fixed roof added a lot of additional rigidity. This added rigidity would aid in reducing body flex and ideally keep the suspension in better alignment during hard cornering. Power still came from the wonderful LS1 pumping out an ultra reliable 345 horses. Shifting is accomplished via 6 speed manual transmission and was the only transmission available for the FRC. You also got the Z51 suspension package with the FRC. The FRC was also 80 pounds lighter than the targa roof coupe. This is a great pick whether hitting the track, or cruising the streets. Production was a mere 4,031 among the 33,270 Corvettes produced in 1999.
