Translated as -The Peoples Car- Volkswagens helped to put many people in the world on the road with 4 wheels and all of the basic equipment you need and nothing you don-t. In the late 1970-s Volkswagen began creating special edition cars including this Champagne Edition II. Of the 18,511 Super Beetle convertibles produced in 1978 there were only 2 Champagne II editions delivered to each dealer resulting in a total of only 1,100 ever produced. This particular edition was only available in Peach Metallic and Ancona Blue Metallic and featured upgraded white Ermine vinyl upholstery, ivory convertible top and faux rosewood dash trim. This cute little survivor is believed to have original paint, upholstery and convertible top. The 1600 CC Air-Cooled motor that is stamped and verified to be within actual production range of the car (basically numbers matching in VW lingo) starts up and runs fantastic.
