From what we've found, there appears there are not a lot of these cars left around. The consignor states she has been gone through in her past - but lacks any documentation. Painted in a 2-stage Black w/ painted on Burgundy stripes, and what looks like all original trim and bumpers that are in good condition, and the addition of new tail lights. He believes the font end to be out of a 1970's sub-frame, w/ power disc brakes, and power steering. She is powered by a late 1960's rebuilt 350 cu in V-8, w/ Edelbrock aluminum intake, 4-bbl carb, EFI ignition, and set of headers, mated to a rebuilt turbo 350 automatic transmission, 10-bolt rear end. The wiring was completely redone through out, including a 100-amp alternator. Take a look inside and you'll see the original dash, and 2-tone Black/Beige cloth/vinyl bench seat. The first 'Custom' rolled off the Ford assembly line in 1949 as a top trim level model. By 1950 the car was referred to as the Custom Deluxe. With the war over, consumers had money to spend and were looking for new and updated cars. A new era had begun with Ford grabbing it by the horns, manufacturing a smaller, stylish model that was more functional than its predecessor. Between 1949-1951 Ford produced over one million Custom two-doors. This 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe is painted in a classic maroon with a tan cloth Custom interior. 1946 would mark the first year back for Pontiac since the war had ended and automakers were able to build cars again. They went right back to their pre war designs but in 1948 they would make a huge jump above their competition. They started offering automatic transmissions in their entry level vehicles. Before this you had to step up to a Cadillac, Buick, or Oldsmobile if you wanted this luxury. It proved to be a huge success with almost 80% of their vehicles would be sold with automatic transmissions. This Pontiac is very similar in that even though it-s an entry level hotrod it has many luxuries of cars that cost twice as much. Start off with well the transmission.
