The Chevelle was introduced in 1964 and was intended to be direct competition for Ford's rather popular Fairlane. Little did they know it would wind up being one of the most memorable cars GM ever produced. The 1969 Chevelle marked the first year that the SS was just an option and not an actual line of vehicles making them very hard to document today. This Red beast definitely has the look of a SS but once you fire it up you know that this is something more. Under the hood lies an astounding 502 cubic inch big block that sounds as good as it looks. With a set of custom heads and large cam it is believed to be putting out over 500 horses. Taming all that power requires a transmission that can handle it. Having that said a Turbo 400 was sourced, built to handle the extra power and installed. The next step was figuring out what gear set to put in the 12 bolt posi rear end. After going back and forth a set of 4. 10's were installed and one super nice and super strong drive train was born.
