Belgium born American engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov was named Chief Engineer of the Corvette in 1968, and it was many of his ideas that made the C3 generation so great. The 1963 Chevrolet Impala offered all new 'Jet Smooth' styling. Grilles, bumpers, hoods, sculptured side panels, and rear deck contours were new but the Impala stayed basically the same. The front and rear fenders had a 'V' shape. The Impala was the top of the line full sized model offering from Chevrolet and had the most standard features and could be optioned with most anything. After GM acquired Lotus in 1986, the Corvette division began working with Lotus to turn the C4 Corvette into the fastest production car in the world. Classic 4x4s are becoming highly collectible, and one of the most sought after is the K5. This particular truck has all the right touches. These trucks are prone to rust, but this one has had all the right repairs including new floors in the cab area using a heavier gauge steel. The body is coated with spray in liner on the interior which gives a rugged finish to the floors. The interior can easily be hosed out after a day in the mud.
