These original E-Series flat nose trucks were only built from 1961 to 1967. The Econoline Pickup was a 2 door variation of the 1st Generation Ford and Mercury Econoline 3-dr vans. In the first year of production 15,000 pickups were made and sold. It's early success led to adoption from competitors including the classic Dodge A-100 van and pickup models. This little E100 Deluxe was treated to a very nice Black/Red 2-tone paint scheme that just screams for attention - the shine is near blinding - and with the very nice trim and new front bumper - she is a looker! One would think she was done last week -she shows that well! The consignor states the 170 6-cylinder engine has been rebuilt, along with the 3-speed transmission, but is unaware how many miles ago. Ford has had a legacy of building tough trucks that are known to stand up to any task, but this one takes the cake in terms of being able to handle ridiculous amounts of horsepower. From the moment you see this truck's hot-rodded appearance that includes a hot red paint job, shaved door handles, and a shaved and welded tailgate setting off a clean and aggressive look. The other thing one might notice is the air scoop with two exposed 4-barrel Holley Carburetors popping above the hood line making it painfully obvious that this truck means business. The rest of the engine is a 460 Big Block Ford that has been modified with aluminum heads, a tunnel ram intake manifold, headers, and a nitrous injection system courtesy of Zex Nitrous. This combination makes for a healthy excess of 600 horsepower which needs to have been held down by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and transferred back to a Ford 9' rear axle featuring a 3:25 gear ratio. Under the hood sits a rebuilt 1969 Lincoln 460 CID V8, mated to a C-6 automatic transmission, and 9' rear end. This potent motor is paired to a smooth shifting 3-speed transmission that has some updates including Edelbrock 4-bbl, valve covers, a set of exhaust headers, and a/c unit. The engine bay is clean , and detailed. The exterior is a stage Black paint job that is driver quality-paint that looks very presentable. She is adorned w/ new front & rear windshields, a new front bumper, and custom rear bumper w/ ball hitch. Take a peek inside the bed and you will find a new wood bed, that adds the extra touch. This all original and highly documented 41,000 mile, 1969 F100 Ford ranger Explore is extremely unique and rare. It is very rare to find a truck like this in all original condition. The paint is a special order code D which is Tuscan gold. What is even more rare is to find a Ranger with a dactory added Explorer Package. In 1975 the 428 Police Interceptor motor from a Virginia ATF (Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms) car was added, they put a transgo towing shift kit in the C6 Transmission. They also split the original wheels and widened to run wider tires. Thankfully, the wheels still retain the original and rare explorer caps. The motor was pulled again in 2014 to regasket the Block and all internals were documented and confirmed to be a low mileage original 405 T code, 428 Police Interceptor Motor.
