1949 introduced Mercury's first Post-War redesign. The '49s featured a 'pontoon fender' shape which appeared aerodynamic and differentiated it from the Fords of the time. This new design was a recipe for success and the 49 model sold incredibly well. Coupes, sedans, wagons, and even convertibles were available. Perhaps the most unique is the Sports Sedan, a sleek 4 door which features rearward opening rear doors. Having these 'suicide' doors from the factory, almost makes it look custom right out of the box. This Jeep looks brand new due, to its recent full restoration. The process was extremely well executed, with a great deal of attention to detail & quality. All exterior body work was done by a highly-rated local shop less than 3 years ago, and the drivetrain now has only about 3000 miles on it. The engine was replaced with a rebuilt 252 CID Inline 6 cylinder that has been bored. 40 over, a mild camshaft installed, 4-barrel carburetor, Borla Headers (270HP & 300 ft-lbs of torque), a front bumper winch, rear spare tire bracket with 5th wheel full size spare, new front & rear custom powder coated bumpers, and it has had a fresh oil change. It does have all its the AC components intact: it only needs a fresh freon charge. The exterior paint job is an incredible Ruby Red, which rivals some show cars' paint jobs. This is one very cool old school roadster with plenty of 'Rat Rod' appeal.
