This big block Chevy-powered drop-top is so much better than when it was new! For starters, the car was completely disassembled except for the rear window mechanism area. This frame-off overhaul included having the inner frame treated with corrosion inhibitor. This car floor pans and body panels were in pretty good shape with only minor surface rust, which was removed when the restoration was underway. The floor pans and the rest of the undercarriage, plus the firewall, were taken down to bare metal, completely prepped, treated, and painted with Por15 rust preventer paint.

The front-end frame assembly was replaced with a powder-coated TCI Camaro front clip; which included a lighter, stronger K-member and tubular control arms, as well as an adjustable coil-over front suspension was installed. In addition, disk brakes, power rack and pinion steering, and integrated transmission mount were added. The transmission is a Muncie M21 4-speed, with upgraded new gears and bearings installed, and is now rated to an M22 Rock Crusher transmission's specs.

This Chevelle SS is painted in the iconic red paint with painted on racing stripes. This flows nicely with the black vinyl interior and top which are in great condition. Popping open the hood you will see the 396 CID 350hp V8 Big Block. This car has the most desirable combination with its 396 engine and 4-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 71,488 miles, but this Chevelle has only about 3,000 miles since rebuild. The entire drivetrain has been rebuilt and is in show ready, scream down the street condition. Options include black bucket seats, a full console along with a factory 8-track AM/FM stereo, power steering, power brakes, seat belts, raised white letter tires, rally wheels, and rear defogger.

Owners Notes: Assembled in Van Nuys CA in late 1969. The third owner was a Chevrolet employee who commissioned Super Chevys in Florida to find a 1970 Chevelle SS and rebuild the car for him. They found him the car in Washington State, then rebuilt the original numbers matching motor and replaced the interior, etc. with all new GM parts. Powering this Chevelle is a stout 502 CID V8 that has been paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. A big motor needs plenty of fuel so a nice Quick Fuel carburetor has been added.
