This big block Chevy-powered drop-top is so much better than when it was new! For starters, the car was completely disassembled except for the rear window mechanism area. This frame-off overhaul included having the inner frame treated with corrosion inhibitor. This car floor pans and body panels were in pretty good shape with only minor surface rust, which was removed when the restoration was underway. The floor pans and the rest of the undercarriage, plus the firewall, were taken down to bare metal, completely prepped, treated, and painted with Por15 rust preventer paint.
The front-end frame assembly was replaced with a powder-coated TCI Camaro front clip; which included a lighter, stronger K-member and tubular control arms, as well as an adjustable coil-over front suspension was installed. In addition, disk brakes, power rack and pinion steering, and integrated transmission mount were added. The transmission is a Muncie M21 4-speed, with upgraded new gears and bearings installed, and is now rated to an M22 Rock Crusher transmission's specs.
