In the mid-sixties, the Buick Skylark Gran Sport was doing well. The Gran Sport sought to identify cars that were fun to drive with a luxury approach. The mid-size sporty car was a hit on the streets, so in 1967, Buick shortened the name to GS400 or GS400. And made it--It's own model. Buick redesigned the front and rear end, as well as, added a red-line with the GS badge decorated across the centerline of the front grille.
