1999 introduced a face-lifted Firebird to the world. The new body was more aerodynamic than the previous design, and sported an overall more muscular look. The big difference, however, was under the hood. The previous 5. 7L LT1 engine was removed from the lineup and replaced with the legendary LS1. The engine was identical to that of the previous model Corvette. Purists have claimed that the LS1 was underrated at 345 horsepower, with good reason. The Model AA was the replacement for the Model TT in Fords heavy duty truck line up. The AA was much more user friendly when compared to the TT. The AA truck series was very similar to the new Model A passenger vehicles, sharing the same engine that produced 40 horsepower at a very low 2,200 rpm. The AA series was equipped with different gearing to take better advantage of the low rpm power band and making it easier to haul heavy loads. The downside was a lower top speed.
