The 55/56 Customline of vehicles was Ford-s answer to the overwhelming success of the Tri/Five Chevrolet that took the market by storm. With similar body lines many people felt Ford should have went a different direction. While sales were decent they were nowhere near what Chevy was pumping out. The Trans AM series Firebird has always been associated with performance. In 1998 GM upgraded the good but outdated LT1 and started putting the now revolutionary LS1 in the F body-s. 1959 - 1961 Parkwoods were six-passenger models, whereas the Kingswood (Chevrolet's other Bel Air equivalent during those two years), had seating for nine. The Parkwood became available in both passenger configurations for 1961, when the Kingswood name was dropped. The Parkwood name was also dropped for 1962, when all Chevrolet station wagons began sharing series names with their passenger-car line mates. Throughout its three-year production run, the Parkwood was available with either a six-cylinder or V8 engine. This bright white Parkwood is true time capsule. The Mustang created the pony car class of American automobiles. This Iconic pony car has been completely gone through and restored in 2009. The poppy red paint is a beautiful shade of orange, and was painted at the time of the restoration. The manual Convertible top was replaced at the time of the restoration and is in excellent shape. Under the hood is the strong 200ci inline 6 engine that has powered these 1965 Mustangs. Putting the power to the ground is a 3-speed automatic transmission.
