This 4-speed manual transmission paired to the 1100 engine is subtle yet strong. Her custom blue and white metallic drip paint definitely turns heads. Her body was repaired before repainted. Even the bumpers have been painted white to match the theme of the Bus. Carrying over the drip pattern to the interior on the cloth and leather seats, the vinyl dash and dark interior tint add to the atmosphere. 1974 Volkswagen Thing

View Description

The odometer is showing 87,795 miles undocumented. This is one of those iconic vehicles that is instantly recognizable and immediately brings to mind a day cruising along the coast with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. This is car made for cruising the coast or anywhere nature calls.

The VW Thing was introduced in 1968 and was in production until 1983 as the type 181 and began importation into the US in 1972. The Type 181 was born in 1969 when the West German military revisited the boxy, open-top theme last seen in the World War II-era Type 82 Kubelwagen.
