The Mercury eight was produced from 1939-1951. During its production the Mercury Eight came in many body styles including coupes, sedans, convertibles and station wagons. This third-generation Mercury was introduced as the first postwar model. Mercury sales records were broken in 1949 due to the completely new 'ponton' body styling. A style that defines bodywork that began to enclose the full width and uninterrupted length of a car. That is, no more distinct running boards or articulated fenders. The beginning of modern styling was now showing its beautiful face.
Our 1949 Mercury Series 9CM 2-Door Coupe is probably one of the finest examples you will find for sale today. Painted in radiant black with accenting all new black and red calves skin leather interior. New carpet has also been installed. Every inch of the interior has been restored to perfection. Under the hood is a professionally rebuilt, blue printed and balanced, flat head V-8 engine. Additions include Edelbrock heads, four- barrel carburetor and manifold.
