The Fairlane was introduced by the Dearborn automaker in in 1955 to replace the 'Crestline' model name and was the top trim level among Ford sedans above the Mainline and Customline. '56 models like this one featured only subtle exterior changes from '55 but Ford's decision to upgrade the lineup to 12-volt capability opened up a multitude of new convenience options available to buyers.
