Leading into the 1940's the world was just coming out of the great depression. Chevrolet wanted to replace the dated Master design for their Pickup and put pen to paper and drafted up a new design. Using the Deluxe 'A' platform the AK series was born. The Chevrolet AK Series Pickup would run from 1941-1947. Here we have a '41 model, the first year of the new generation. If only fenders could talk. The black paint has some age but still looks good. The wooden bed rails add a lot of character and add to its history as well. More on that shortly. The black vinyl interior is in good shape and dash really throws you back in time. Under the hood in the believed original inline 6-cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. You will notice on the driver side a small plate on the bottom of the engine block that says, 'US Navy. ' This truck was originally built for service in the Navy. When she arrived for inspection at the military base she was rejected because the wrong bed was accidentally installed...
