The Nova was produced 1961 thru 1979 and again 1985 thru 1988. This black beauty is a part of the first generation of Chevrolet Nova-s. The 1965 Chevrolet Chevy II and Nova were updated with cleaner front-end styling courtesy of a fresh full-width grille with new integrated headlight bezels. Parking lights moved down to the deep-section bumper, and sedans gained a new roofline. Taillight and backup lights were restyled, as was the rear cove. The Nova Super Sport came as a Sport Coupe only. Super Sports had a new brushed-chrome console with floor-mounted four-speed manual transmission or Power glide automatic, but a column-mounted three-speed manual remained standard. This is no ordinary El Camino. It is powered by a stout 427 CID V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This truck is seriously quick! Since the truck was rebuilt 2 1/2 years ago it has only covered 5,745 miles. The outside of the truck has been done in a beautiful red color which is perfectly matched by the red vinyl interior. The interior is air conditioned so you will be kept cool on hot summer days. Music in the cabin is taken care of with the AM/FM radio and cassette player. Part of owning a classic car can sometimes be a hassle with heavy steering and difficult brakes. That is certainly not the case with this truck. With power steering and brakes it is very easy to drive. To finish off the look it has been equipped with raised white letters and rally wheels. 1966 was an excellent year. The powertrain of this beast is where it really shines! Under the hood is a Chevrolet LS1 V8 that has been rebuilt using upgraded parts from the LS6 and LS7. Backing that healthy engine is a GM 4L60E automatic transmission. Keeping the powerplant cool is a champion aluminum radiator with dual fans. The fuel is sent to the engine from a new aluminum fuel tank and the exhaust is routed out through stainless shorty headers.

Though the front end is from a 1970 El Camino I assure you that this is actually a '71. This El Camino is powered by a turn-key fuel injected LS2. With a 4L60E transmission getting through the powerband is a breeze. This LS2 engine came from a 2006 Corvette with only 300 miles since installation on the El Camino. The aluminum radiator with dual electric fans will help keep her cool when taking her out to the local car cruise or show during the hot summer heat. With a larger air intake, this El Camino takes in a bit more air for better performance. It does get better than a classic car that can be daily driven with the reliability of a modern drivetrain.
