First delivered to an eager public in 1961, the project initially started back in 1957 when Volvo wanted a sports car to compete in the US and European Markets. The Volvo P1800 had received a major publicity boost in the early 60's when a white 1962 Volvo P1800 was driven by Simon Templar, played by Roger Moore, and it was featured prominently in the hit TV series The Saint beginning that year and throughout the entire run of the show. Roger Moore was reportedly so smitten with the Volvo P1800 that he bought one for his own personal use. The Datsun Sports (called Datsun Fairlady in the Japanese and Australian markets), was a series of roadsters produced by Nissan in the 1960s. The series was a predecessor to the Z-car in the Fairlady line, and offered an competitor to the European MG, Triumph, Fiat and Alfa Romeo sports cars. The line began with the 1959 'S211' and continued through 1970 with the 'SP311' and 'SR311' line.

The Fairlady saw competitors follow its introduction, with examples called the Honda S500, the Toyota Sports 800, and the Daihatsu Compagno. In Japan, it represented one of three core products offered by Nissan at Japanese Nissan Dealerships called Nissan Shop, alongside the Datsun Truck and the Datsun 1000. The Datsun SRL 2000 was the 2 seat roadster that made their name. Paul Newman started his racing career in one. It had a potent 1982cc overhead cam engine with dual SU type side draft carbs and a 5 speed transmission. In 1991, Nissan introduced a limited number two-door convertible styled in a retro appearance to the Datsun Sports called the Nissan Figaro.

1967 was the first year since its inception that major changes were bought to America's original Pony car. Many believe this due to the fact that until 67 Ford not only had the market cornered they invented it. This would be the year that GM would bring out its now classic F body which would bring another option to this evolving Pony Market. This 67 has been in KY since it was received at Burns Ford on 8/14/67 which can be verified by the included Marti report. Starting off life as a white with black vinyl top this little coupe has come a long way. The complete restoration consisted of getting the body down to bare metal and removing that black vinyl top. Once all of that was done the car was completely repainted with an original 67 Ford color Sauterne Gold which is different enough to lure people towards it but not so wild that it completely sticks out. This eye catching classic truck is in excellent driver condition, and is a real conversation starter. The white paint is fresh and makes the truck stand out and almost reminding you of an old ice cream truck. The brand new chrome bumpers both front and rear give it just the right amount of shine.
