The Packard had an astonishing run from 1899-1956. Starting out as a small company where only 400 Packard's were manufactured from 1899- 1903. Even with those low numbers, Packard had caught the attention of rich investors due to its superior build quality and reliability. In 1902 the Packard Motor company was off and running. Sold to wealthy purchasers in both the United States and European markets. As a matter of fact, Packard sold twice as many cars abroad than any other U. S. manufacturer. For 1953, the Patrician used the same 327-cubic-inch (5,360 cc) 9-main bearing engine that used for 1951 and 1952 but for the first time added a four barrel carburetor for an increase in power. For 1954, the new 359-cubic-inch (5,880 cc) 9-main bearing, aluminum head 212 hp (158 kW) engine was standard and also featured a 4-brl carburetor. 1954 was the first year to add a start-position to the ignition key - earlier years were started by a switch built into the carburetor which was actuated by depressing the accelerator pedal to the floor.

Packard was established in 1899 and wouldn't see their first car for over 2 decades. Packard quickly established a name for themselves with their quality and dependability. Fast forward to 1935 and Packard unveiled the 120 and it would offer a vast array of body styles. The 120 would see production up until 1941, just before America waded into WWII. This model is one of the most original Packards we have seen here. The gray paint has lost its sheen but looks like original lacquer paint. Body and metal are in remarkably good shape. The hubcaps and wide white wall tires really give the car the period correct look. Inside the gray seats have been replaced and are in very good order. Under the hood is a straight 8 believed to be a 282ci in displacement. This motor has turned over for us like a knife through butter.
