Though many people believe the first coupe utility was the 1957 Ford Ranchero but in actuality Ford of Australia released one in 1934. GM followed suite in 35 but the American market would not see one until the release of the Ford Ranchero in 1957. Chevrolet responded in 1959 by bringing out the El Camino which oddly enough would be the only year that the two would directly compete against each other. Reintroduced in 64 and based on the' A' body platform the El Camino was now more of a car than earlier years. This 69 has the car part down but with its rhino lined bed it could double as a light duty truck if needs be.
