The Monterey was introduced in 1950 as part of the Mercury Eight series. The car was designed to compete head to head with GM's hardtop coupes which had taken the automotive world by storm. The pilarless design, known simply as a hardtop, gave the appearance of a convertible with the all of the advantages of a fixed roof. This gorgeous --55 is a classic example of what the 50's were all about. The Teal Body and White Hard Top gives the classic 50-s paint scheme and the chrome trim absolutely screams Americana. Add to this the wide white wall tires with the two rears being concealed by a set of fender skirts finishing off the period correct exterior.
